Hypocrite, Clean thy teeth!

 Thot fer de day...1-7-2021

I had intended to bemoan the loss of the initiative to challenge what to many appears to be at least questionable practice of the voting polls in the recent November election, but NOW Biden speaks to the UNRELENTING Invasion of the Chambers of Congress. Where?! Where was your voice in the past Summer mr presidentelect. Where!? Those actions were longer, were as or more violent, and much more destructive. You are starting your tenure as a dupe or a crony of the same mentality that you now decry...please do better.

a G. K Chesterton quote

"I never in my life said anything merely because I thought it funny; though, of course, I have had ordinary human vain-glory, and may have thought it funny because I had said it. It is one thing to describe an interview with a gorgon or a griffin, a creature who does not exist. It is another thing to discover that the rhinoceros does exist and then take pleasure in the fact that he looks as if he didn't."

from Chapter One-Introduction in Defence of Everything Else
from his book Orthodoxy.

In the Cain thing on harassment

someone is not hearing.  Mostly what Herman Cain has said and intimated and intended to be understood is that while and as  long as people are vague and gemneral in their accusations he is not recollective of the obtuse inuendos to which they are referring.

So, first we have Cain not hearing in defense.  A defense built in the snake bite and back biting  world of Big Business, and secondly the press is not hearing in the rabid world of political press paranoia of missing the scoop and the selective hearing that engenders, or perhaps just in downright mean press politics.

It is very possible, even probable that Cain the innocent would not have on his cuff a well crafted response to these allegations for the very reason it seems a non issue.  That he would consider the payment of a severance for termination of employment as just that and not a payoff for silence to an un-offended wannabe victim seems to fall right in line with the apparent facts of the case as we have tried to haear them so far...

Communication is by definition 2-way alternating speaking and hearing

Communication does not happen all at once in other than Divine encounters. So when one is intent upon making his or her point the ONLY valid concern, they err by not hearing what others in attempted communictaion with him or her are trying to say. To repeatedly speak toward a goal not understood either by disagreement or ignorance of that goal, is to be Demagogic by virtue of monologistic tendencies. While Jeremiah may have been so commissioned (by the Divine, I might add), we do live in America, a largely Christian nation, within the Southern front of the Ambassadorship to the world, and specifically amongst a congregational setting. Where is the congregational voice? When was it relinquished to the Demagogue, be it man or committee? What is a 'free church' anyway?

Sunday Night Church

The book I was reading is located in Daybreak Coffe Shop, to which I have not returned, so the review is on hiatus.

Something a bit more current I find in the Church bulletin which tells us many things that are open to participation, but one thing in particular catches my eye--that being the bold fonted note that church will not meet tonight. You know, I bet lot's of folks will now start to attend because they know we will not be there--not! If we are trying to grow a church spiritually it would seem to me that those of us committed to its growth would suck it up and find the resolve to attend church whenever we can, and especially on those days that people think, "Hey! It's a church night!". But we in our grand imagination of hipness have decided that it's just too much for people to attend, and since a major portion will not be attending, those who would attend must be Hollered at(visa vis the bold fontage) to be sure and not come in case someone who cannot attend at other times or has decided that they might attend now will nmot be encouraged to come back. WhaT RIDIDCULOUS LINE OF THINKING IS THIS?!

to buy and sell or not to buy and sell, what choice is there?

Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name

Rev 16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and [upon] them which worshipped his image.

To tell or not to tell?

Is God real? Must Jesus have died? Does the Spirit have power? Then, To tell or not to tell?

It is my experience that God is real. It is an experience decidedly uncovered in an upbringing within a family of believers, and yet having some very personal and amazing manifests for me, and perhaps other than as I tell them to others, for me alone. They are the kind of experiences an outsider might say, "Oh you were programmed to think that way by your upbringing." or, "Those kind of occurences are purely phsychological." or, "That can be explained by 'thus and such' and is not evidence of God".

But relying on the truth as it has been revealed to me, and hoping that you, having read this far, have some degree of agreement with me, or perhaps some hope of agreeing with me on the salient points of this post, are willing to imagine the Bible as that Book of Truth on which we can rely for the promotion of our spiritual blessing, then in some way we are needful, see Romans 3:23, and God has covered our need through the Death of Jesus, His only begotten son.

So, accepting that God is real, believing then that God is spirit, see John 4:24, and knowing of creation, the Day of Pentecost, et al, then we can have confidence that the Spirit does indeed have power. And thus when Jesus tells us to go and tell the world the good news we must.

How can I do that when(interject whatever excuse you have here)? Read God's word, spend time with people who are confessing Christ in their lives, Pray. Then venture out in faith and trust God to do the rest.

Texas Baptist at the BGCT in 60% of 3rd Floor of Houston's George R Brown Convention Center

Wow!

One of the least attended conventions I have been to, yet this was the most enthusing conclave I have attended. There were some debates and a few votes to the nay on an issue or two but everything was went to committee or enacted, that was proposed, we had time to join in a conversation with real meat and potatoes kind of folks concerning Baptist distinctives and ministry life. Therem were too many breakout sessions for one man to attend where many different topics were investigated and explicated for the purpose of edify8ing the Kingdom of God and reaching as many folks as possible in as compassionate a manner as can be developed. I had fun, I was encouraged, I feel better equipped, there is energy all about, my sciatica type pain has dissipated, what great fellowship for those inattendance and what great prospects for the group know as Texas Baptists because we have an organization as well established and ready to roll up its sleeves as the BGCT! A New Day, A Fresh Start, A Last Dig, another example

Whichever one of you purveyors of hate and disengenuity wrote this biggoted bit of garbage(Associated Press Writers Alan Fram, Donna Cassata, Gillian Gaynair, Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, Kevin Freking, Ed Tobias, Ben Evans, Seth Borenstein and H. Josef Hebert)

Obama said in an undisguised shot at Bush administration policies.

ought to be be visited by the 'Saw VI' with a special thumbscrew and muzzle contraption fitted just for you!

When he said,

"But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions —— that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."

Was President Obama actually throwing dung at the man who stood tall in the saddle and reminded each and every one of us who have stood hand over heart, eyes welling, and sung 'What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming', that we are a nation of people who can and do what is necessary and hopeful for the future. Why would President Obama throw dung at the outgoing President Bush when his is finished, his is powered down, his is boxed and shipped home, to Texas, where he can relax and start afresh. President Obama has the high ground of the reins of the future nation in his hand, surely he would not....

No, President Obama did not throw dung at the outgoing, defenseless President, he challenged the Nation to renew its commitment to forging ahead at a time when our Parents are thinking that everything they saved for has been downsized or lost, at a time when reporting by reporters has been as biased as ever and that indirect reporting by celebrities is as convoluted as ever it can be. No, MISTER President Obama was merely stating the obvious that many are at fault for turning their head and winking their eye and denying that we are a people together. He is not so mean as to denigrate from his pedestal of vision and enlightenment one so strong and courageous as to have made the hard decisions and face the Devil in the cupboard.

Mr President Obama did the right thing and denounced the placing of blame for one's situation on others as a despicable act of cowardice. I say you can infer from the lead in

'Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documentsSo it has been.
So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age...
We remain a young nation, but in the words of scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit'

he may have actually been addressing those who might sell prestige and position, when he said,

"In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted —— for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame."

and from the trailing

"Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions —— who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them —— that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works —— whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account —— to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day —— because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government. "

Once again it becomes obvious that the press is small in its politics and narrow in its vision when it comes to the earnest work and derived benefit of one who has labored for the preservation of that American Way to which we all claim allegiance.

Good God let it go. Report it right. Prove your desire for truth by the action of your pen.

stinkin drinkin linkin

Once again the quest arises from the ashes and those of us who have been through it so many times before are bewildered by its ability to ressurect. The quest of course is package liqour sales iinside the city limits of Lubbock, which has already occurred by smoky room behind closed door dealing. The question then becomes why not the rest of town? The answer is of course multi faceted and fraught with emotion on both sides of the issue.

There are other political boundaries to consider-namely the county precincts decide their own fate on this issue, or has that changed? So if the majority of Lubbock voters voted to alow the sales in question. then the next question would be did the individual precincts vote for the issue. If they did then the advance of liqour sales throughout town would begin. However if none of the other precincts voted for the issue save, but a majority of voters in general, then package sales would advance into the rest of the precinct covered by Lubbock city code and law. Or some degree of the same depending on which county precincts within the city of Lubbock actually voted in favour of the sales. That's the physical and legal aspects of the issue without consideration of the further onus the code wamks of the city no doubt will feel obligated to impenge if and when the issue is actuated.

So then a second issue with the issue is the issue of taxation. As long as the package sales are relegated to the 'strip' then the Dallas based new owners of most of the strip pay most of the taxes--not! The people of Lubbock pay the taxes, it is covered in the price.

A third issue is the focus of money then going to the owners of the ackage stores will be determined by whether the issue is passed or not. If not,the the majority of the net profits end up in Dallas, and Lubbock is then an exporter of capital for what in return? drunkeness? If it is passed then the city codes peope can taylkor the location of package sales store to places which have the capacity to handle traffic and legalities and amy be more local in ownership whereby the net profits as well as the labor and advertising moneys will be spent here or for the most part warehoused here in Lubbodk and so Lubbock then is able to capitalize on that warehousing of seemingly tremendous amounts of funds.

The fourth issue is that of drunkeness and its effect on the population which participates and the effect on the population within the surrounding community.
The drunkeness quotient is already there, perhaps there would be less drinking and driving because of the reduced time to procure the booze. An Auxiliary issue might be the effect of daily or frequent exoposure to youngsters of the aspect of people buying those botteles in funny brown bags or large colorful cases in front of their very eyes. Would they be encouraged to purchase at a later more legally acceptabel age some of the same or might they discover that those people who are buying those items are often the ones you read about in the paper, or would they, horror of horrors, discover that some of those people are really nice guys and not at all irresponsible, and so be reencouraged to purchase those items at a later more legally accepptable age? I am not sure even time will be allowed to separate this chaff.

And a fifth apect of the package sales only at the strip or line reality is that it does serve to line the coffers of those entities in charge of such things as gasoline sales and the entities in charge of sales and excise taxes related to the sale of gasoline. So as a negative to the passing of the issue is the aspect of reduced gasoline sales profits and reduced tax moneys.
